Payment Methods & Payment Due

Payment is generally due at the time services are provided unless another arrangement has been approved in advance.

Accepted payment methods may include:

  • Credit cards
  • Debit cards
  • Eligible HSA or FSA cards, when permitted by the client's plan administrator
  • Other approved electronic payment methods when available

Clients are responsible for confirming whether a particular payment method or health-benefit account may be used for psychotherapy services.

Card on File

Regular self-pay psychotherapy clients are generally required to maintain a valid credit or debit card on file.

With the client's authorization and according to Graceful Self-Help Counseling's financial agreement, the payment method on file may be used for:

  • Scheduled psychotherapy session fees
  • Agreed extended-session charges
  • Late-cancellation fees
  • No-show fees
  • Other authorized outstanding balances

Participation in the Graceful Community Care Program is not automatically denied solely because an applicant does not have a credit or debit card.

Secure Client Portal

Established clients may receive access to Graceful Self-Help Counseling's secure Client Portal for available functions such as:

  • Completing intake and financial paperwork
  • Reviewing account or billing information
  • Receiving receipts or other practice documents
  • Managing available payment information
  • Accessing other secure client features when provided

Portal access information is provided directly to established clients when applicable.

Extended Session Charges

Standard psychotherapy sessions are approximately 50 minutes. A brief grace period of up to approximately five minutes may occur without an additional charge.

If a session reaches approximately 55 minutes and additional time is clinically appropriate, Christina's schedule permits, and the client agrees to continue, extended time may be billed in additional 15-minute increments.

Individual psychotherapy: $30 per additional 15-minute increment

Couples & family psychotherapy: $40 per additional 15-minute increment

Extended time is not guaranteed and will not automatically be added to a session.

Cancellation & No-Show Policy

Clients are asked to provide at least 24 hours' notice when canceling or rescheduling an appointment.

Late Cancellation

Appointments canceled with less than 24 hours' notice may be charged 50% of the scheduled session fee.

  • Individual psychotherapy: $50
  • Couples/family psychotherapy: $75

No-Show

A missed appointment without notice may be charged 100% of the scheduled session fee.

  • Individual psychotherapy: $100
  • Couples/family psychotherapy: $150

Graceful Self-Help Counseling may waive a late-cancellation or no-show fee in a genuine emergency or other exceptional circumstance at its discretion.

Late Arrival

Clients who arrive late will generally remain responsible for the full scheduled session fee, and the session will normally end at its originally scheduled time.

If additional time is available, clinically appropriate, and agreed upon, extended-session charges may apply as described above.

Superbills & Possible Out-of-Network Reimbursement

Graceful Self-Help Counseling does not currently submit insurance claims directly.

When appropriate, Graceful Self-Help Counseling may be able to provide documentation or a superbill that a client may choose to submit to a private insurance company for consideration of possible out-of-network reimbursement.

A superbill may include information such as:

  • Provider information
  • Dates and types of services provided
  • Fees paid
  • Diagnostic information when clinically appropriate and required
Important Insurance Notice

A superbill does not guarantee reimbursement. Insurance companies establish their own rules regarding out-of-network benefits, eligible providers, associate-level clinicians, diagnoses, deductibles, reimbursement rates, and required documentation. Clients should contact their insurance plan directly before relying on possible reimbursement.

Financial Assistance

Graceful Self-Help Counseling is developing financial-assistance options intended to improve access to psychotherapy when possible.

Depending on eligibility and availability, these may include:

  • Reduced-fee or sliding-scale psychotherapy
  • The Graceful Community Care Program for limited pro bono (no-cost) psychotherapy openings

Financial-assistance availability is limited and is not guaranteed. Eligibility and continued participation may be reviewed periodically.

Good Faith Estimate

Individuals who are uninsured or who are not using insurance to pay for services may have rights under federal law to receive a Good Faith Estimate of expected charges for scheduled healthcare services.
